The Cleanest Hotel of the Netherlands

The competition for The Cleanest Hotel of the Netherlands is held every two years. For the 2013 edition, hotels were able to register until January 11th, 2013. From the entries, 25 hotels were nominated, that competed for six places in the finale on March 14th. The finalists were Hilton Rotterdam Hotel, Park Plaza Amsterdam Airport, Novotel Eindhoven, Bilderberg Hotel Lauswolt, Hotel The Toren Amsterdam and Sofitel Legend The Grand. During the award show on March 14th, the general managers of the hotel finalists had to convince the judges why their hotel should win. The jury, consisting of Haaije de Vries (Mystery Guest), Caro van Eekelen (Accor Hotels) and Joost van Beek (NH Hoteles), had the difficult task of appointing a winner. “Without housekeeping, a hotel would never make a profit. They are at the heart of the hotel. The six finalists were very close, but eventually we have chosen the winner on small details”, the judges’ report stated.

Sofitel Legend The Grand

Winner of the competition was Sofitel Legend The Grand. The executive housekeeper of this hotel, Liselotte Walta, was of course delighted with her victory and the € 1500 check. “This really is the pinnacle on our work. We strive for perfection and all have passion for our work. To receive such appreciation is truly a compliment. We have an eye for details and do much more than just cleaning. We want to tell a story.” And those € 1500? “That’s to throw the housekeepers a good party,” she winks.

Blycolin was also very satisfied about the winner. Especially because The Cleanest Hotel of the Netherlands has been a regular Blycolin customer for years.
